2SGBQ+ and COVID-19 Study

The 2SGBQ+ and COVID-19 study was designed to respond to current and pressing knowledge gaps concerning the mental health and substance use impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on 2SGBQ+ cis and Trans men in Manitoba.

 

 This study sought to: 

  1. Explore the direct and indirect impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on 2SGBQM (with a focus on marginalized 2SGBQM) in Manitoba, including how COVID-19 impacts their mental health, substance use outcomes, sexual behaviours, and access to healthcare and other services. 

  2. Understand the effects of healthcare system transformations and altered service delivery in response to COVID-19 on both service providers and 2SGBQM receiving substance use/harm reduction and mental health care in Manitoba 

Data collection for this study is closed.

Mental Health was a key a consideration for this study. This graphics reflects a key trend related to the impact the COVID-19 Pandemic had on 2SGBQ+ men’s mental health.

The COVID-19 pandemic had drastic effects to employment for many, including 2SGBQ+ men. Changes in employment were linked to mental health outcomes in this study.
