Danita is from Zagime Anishinabec, formerly known as Sakimay First Nation, and her spirit names are Lightning Rock Woman, Calls Far Woman, and White Horse with Wings.

She currently sits on the Community Alliances & Network (CAAN) board, the Canadian AIDS Treatment and Information Exchange (CATIE) board, and the All Nations Hope Network.

Danita supports the AIDS Programs in South Saskatchewan and continues to do the Anyone @ Risk Support Group weekly and the Whose Down Opioid Support Group.

She is also a Peer Health Advocate at Wellness Wheel Medical Clinic & Indigenous Community Research Network.
