Jared Star
Graduate Research Associate
Jared is a PhD student and passionate leader in the community health sector with research interests in sexuality, sexual health, and critical social science theories and approaches to addressing complex health and social issues. Jared earned his BSW in 2016 and his MSc in Community Health Sciences in 2021, both from the U of M. He is the recipient of the SSHRC Joseph Armand Bombardier CGS-M award (2018) for his project looking at steroid use among 2SGBQ+ men in Manitoba and is a current SSHRC Vanier scholar (22/23).
Outside of academic pursuits, Jared is an active researcher in the community, working with the Manitoba HIV/STBBI Collective Impact Network and via his research consulting firm, where he works with non-profits throughout Canada to integrate reliable, trustworthy evidence into their charitable work.
