Samantha Moore

Samantha Moore (she/her) is a medical anthropologist and PhD candidate in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba. Her primary research interests include the social and cultural determinants of infectious disease, gendered and racialized health disparities, and the use of health technologies and programming in colonized spaces.
Samantha received her BA in Anthropology from Trent University in 2017 and her MA in Medical Anthropology from the University of Saskatchewan in 2019. Her master's thesis includes an ethnographic investigation of food security and HIV intersections among First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples in Saskatoon. Currently, Samantha's primary research examines experiences of HPV and cervical cancer among sex workers residing in the informal settlements of Nairobi, Kenya. Outside of her studies, Samantha has acted as a research consultant on many health projects, including maternal/child health, health policy in reproductive medicine, and drug policy within the Canadian context.
